We offer four main collections and often combine elements from all collections to create unique pieces:  fingerprints and handwriting, paw prints and fingerprints, cremation ashes and photos and more.  Want to stay informed of new additions to the product lines and special promotions?  Please subscribe to my mailing list here

Everlasting Prints
These pieces are made using your actual fingerprints, footprints, hand prints and even lip prints.  All we need are well focused photographs of your prints to make your unique, one of a kind keepsake.  Our process results in deep, well defined prints that with proper care, will never be rubbed smooth.  Being able to feel your loved one's prints is very consoling.  Shop here to choose your favorite design or contact me to customize something special just for you.

Love Notes
These pieces are made using your actual handwriting or artwork.  All we need are well focused photographs of your handwriting to make your unique, one of a kind keepsake.  Our process results in deep deeper engraving than you will find on traditionally engraved jewelry.  We also offer embossed (or raised) options on many items, allowing you to feel the handwriting.  Shop here to choose your favorite design or contact me to customize something special just for you.

Precious Pets
These pieces are made using your pet's photos, paw prints, pet fur or whiskers and even nose texture.  All we need are well focused photographs or a small amount of fur/whiskers to make your unique, one of a kind keepsake.  Every pet is unique and so are these pieces.  Shop here to choose your favorite design or contact me to customize something special just for you.

Cremation Ashes
These pieces are made using your cremation ashes mixed with the silver metal clay.  We only need a tiny amount of ashes to make your unique, one of a kind keepsake.  The ashes are permanently encapsulated in the silver so you never have to worry that a container will open allowing the ashes to fall out.  These pieces are a beautiful way to carry your loved one or beloved pet with you and only you know what is on the inside.  Shop here to choose your favorite design or contact me to customize something special for you.

What Is Metal Clay?

10/7/2018

Metal clay is the medium in which I work with to make your treasured keepsake jewelry.  Fine silver metal clay was introduced in Japan in the early 1990's by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and finally made it's way to America around 1995.  Since then, there are many other companies offering metal clay, and it is now also available in gold, bronze, copper and steel.

Metal Clay is made from powdered metal combined with an organic binder and water. It can be modeled, molded, or sculpted then when heated to a high temperature in a kiln, the binder burns away, and the metal particles sinter (or fuse) into solid metal.  I work with numerous forms of metal clay and they contain the following properties:
  • Fine Silver is .999 fine silver after firing.  It is a bright silver and tarnishes less quickly than sterling silver.
  • Sterling Silver is .960 silver after firing.  Standard sterling is .925, but I use a higher percentage of fine silver to help hinder tarnishing as quickly.  Sterling silver is a bit harder than fine silver and is recommend for bracelets, keychains, rings, or anything else that will get bumped around more.
  • Gold metal clay is equivalent to 18k gold in terms of strength.  It is very expensive so it is not widely used by metal clay artists.  Some silver items are plated with gold, which is usually 22k or 24k gold.
  • Bronze is solid bronze after firing.  It is not as bright as gold, but is gold toned.  While I protect all base metals with a sealant, bronze may patina over time.
  • Brilliant Bronze is solid bronze after firing.  This bronze is as close to gold color as you can get with base metal.  While I protect all base metals with a sealant, bronze may patina over time.
  • Rose Bronze is solid bronze after firing.  This bronze has a pink tint to it...not as bright as copper, but somewhere between bronze and copper.  While I protect all base metals with a sealant, bronze may patina over time.
  • Copper is solid copper after firing.  I typically leave the copper in its natural state, but it can be antiqued for a more rustic look.  While I protect all base metals with a sealant, bronze may patina over time.
  • Steel is solid steel after firing.  This metal is very lightweight and very strong and durable.  The color can vary from light gray to almost black, depending on the process.  It has a silver tone to it, but is not as bright as silver.  Steel is protected with a sealant to prevent rust and is not recommend to be worn in water at all.
  • White Satin is a unique combination of iron, copper and tin.  This metal is also very lightweight and very strong and durable.  The color can vary from dark silver to light gray to dark gray.  When polished to a high polish it has a silver tone, but is not as bright as silver.  White Satin is protected with a sealant to prevent rust and is not recommend to be worn in water at all.

How it all began...

Hello!  I thought it would be great to start out by telling you a little about myself and how A Timeless Impression began.

My name is Cheryl Frazee and I am the owner, designer, maker and chief bottle washer of A Timeless Impression.  I began my journey into jewelry design around 2006, when I began making beaded jewelry.  Beading was enjoyable, but I was dissatisfied with the focal pieces that were available.  I was then introduced to metal clay and discovered how to make my own unique pendants using a variety of these metal clays.  I spent the next couple of years learning the necessary skills to perfect my craft and have now been working primarily in metal clay for over 10 years.

For those of you who aren't familiar with metal clay, please visit my FAQ to learn more about it.

I made my first fingerprint piece by simply pressing my own finger into the metal clay, refining the shape, then firing it in the kiln.  I was so amazed at the detail in that solid silver charm and knew this is a path I needed to take.  I've always been a sentimental person who loves personalized gifts, and with this newfound technique, the floodgates opened.  I began making them for friends and family, then finally opened my first ecommerce shop in 2011.  I originally sold under the name Island Girl Expressions along with my artisan jewelry, but decided to spin off the personalized jewelry under a new name.

A Timeless Impression was officially born in 2013.  I started out with just a handful of products, and have grown to offer over 400 different designs.  During the past 5 years, I have changed my processes to make it as easy as possible for my customers to order.  Customer satisfaction is my top priority and because my products are so deeply engraved, with proper care, your special keepsake will last forever, and can be passed down through the generations.
